An Evening with Eco-Cycle: A recycling event for people who think they know how to recycle

Recycling is pretty basic, right? Paper, plastic, and glass go in the blue bin, everything else goes in the trash. But did you know aluminum cans shouldn't be crushed? Ever wonder why plastic bags can’t mingle in the single stream bins? What about bottles with metal caps? And what happens when you don't recycle correctly?

In honor of Earth Day, Eco Cycle will be here to spread the good word about the incredible recycling efforts taking place in Boulder. We will hear some lesser-known facts about the Boulder Recycling Center, how the recycling process works, information about how to recycle unusual materials at CHaRM (Center for Hard to Recycle Materials), and about Eco Cycle’s plans for future growth. Even if you consider yourself to be a well-informed eco-conscious citizen of Boulder, we guarantee you will learn something new!

Thursday, April 23rd at 6:30pm, talk starts at 7:00. Light refreshments provided.

Saved by the Sea: An Evening with David Helvarg

Join us on Thursday, April 30th for an evening with David Helvarg, author of Saved by the Sea. Acclaimed as “the premier chronicler of America’s complex relationship with our oceans”, David Helvarg also has experience as a war correspondent, investigative journalist, documentary producer, and private investigator. The one constant in his adventurous life has been his love for the sea. His personal story of love, loss, and redemption, Saved by the Sea is also a profound, startling, and sometimes humorous reflection on the state of our seas and the intimate ways in which our lives are linked to the natural world around us. Book signing to follow.

Co-hosted by Ocean First Divers and the Colorado Ocean Coalition at 6:30pm, Thursday April 30th. 3015 Bluff Street in Boulder. Open to the Public. Light refreshments provided.
