FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE SWIM SCHOOL OF BOULDER

When do you hold classes?

The Swim School of Boulder is a year-round teaching facility. Our classes are open enrollment, meaning there's no start or stop date. You can begin whenever you are ready.

How often will my child be at lessons?

Classes meet once per week on the same day and at the same time. This allows the teachers to have continuity of training with every student.

Are your teachers insured?

All of our teachers are certified through Swim Schools International, and insured for every student. They love kids, and want their students to love swimming!

What size is the class?

We limit our classes to no more than four students per teacher, six for the Baby and Me. This allows the students to get the ideal level of attention from their teacher, while still having the opportunity to observe their peers performing the in-water skills.

How warm is your pool?

We keep our pool at a comfortable 88 degrees. Keeping the pool warm allows the students to focus on their skills, not on their body temperature.

When will my child be able to swim?

That depends. Children have their own special gifts. Some are gifted musicians, some are born athletes, and some are graceful and can dance beautifully. Swimming requires and builds coordination, endurance and strength. That can take time. Each child's learning curve and comfort level depend on their experience around water and their personality.

How do I know what class to put my child in?

The first part of any new lesson is an evaluation class, where the teacher will test the student's skills in the water; this allows us to determine the student's strengths and where they can improve. Proper placement is important because:

1. If the student in is in a class below their level, they can become bored and won't learn at an optimal level.

2. IF the student is in a class above their actual level, they can get frusterated and discouraged.

How can I register my child?

We accept cash, personal checks and all major credit cards. If you know that you would like to hold a spot, you can do so with a $50 deposit or by paying in full. The deposit is NON-refundable, but is tranferrable to another class within 90 days of making the deposit.

Holds:  If you need to verify scheduling, we will do a 24-hour hold.

What if I have to miss a class?

In order to maintain the integrity of our classes regarding content, size, consistency, and progression, we do not offer make-ups for missed classes. WE have found that adding children to classes for make-ups disrupts the rhythm of the class. Please do your best to attend your scheduled classes.

The Swim School of Boulder will extend ONE $20 voucher EVERY MONTH for any child who misses class due to illness and presents a doctor's medical excuse.

What are the class costs?

The cost is $100 dollars per 4 lessons, as well as a yearly registration fee of $25 for the first family member, and $10 for each additional family member. This fee is used for the liability insurance that covers our teachers and every one of their students.
