Digital Underwater Photographer course

Underwater photography is one of the most popular diving specialties and the rise of digital underwater photography has made it easier and more rewarding than ever. There are two PADI Digital Underwater Photography courses. Level 1 covers basic photography concepts, lighting and backscatter, digital file formats and general care of your equipment. Level 2 goes deeper into macro and wide angle photography, dual strobes and more advanced photographic techniques. Both classes are suitable for all camera models, whether you use a point-and-shoot or a more sophisticated D-SLR.

The Scuba Gear You'll Use

You use all the same basic scuba gear you would use for the diving environment as well as an underwater photography system.

The submersible white balance slate can be used during Level 2 and is available to purchase from Ocean First Divers.  The course materials preview the skills you’ll practice with your instructor.

The Prerequisites for This Course 

To enroll for Level 1, you must: have a PADI Open Water Diver certification (or have a qualifying certification from another organization).

To enroll for Level 2, you must first complete Level 1.

Your Underwater Photography Adventure Dive in the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course credits (at your instructor’s discretion) as the first dive in the PADI Underwater Photographer course

Course cost and inclusions:

Level 1: $120 US paid directly to PADI on the eLearning website plus $48.95 + tax to Ocean First Divers for a 1-hour pool session with an instructor and PIC certification card.

Level 2: $88.95 + tax includes a 1-hour class session with an instructor, a 1-hour pool session, 1 open water dive, and PIC certification card.
