Scuba Regulator Repair, Annual Service

We offer a number of services to ensure your life support equipment remains in great working order.  Our certified technicians will perform a total scuba regulator repair, also known as an annual service.

How often should I have my gear serviced?
Your scuba equipment should be serviced every 12 months, per the manufacturer's recommendations.  This annual schedule should still be followed even if the regulator has only been on "a few" dives since it's last service.  Depending on the manufacturer's warranty, an annual service may also be required to keep your equipment under warranty.

What does an annual regulator service include?
An annual service includes a complete disassembly, sonic cleaning of all metal parts, inspection and cleaning of all internal components, lubing and reassembling the regulators- 1st and 2nd stage and your octo.  We will also check, lube and replace your high pressure gauge o-rings and spool. All batteries will be tested.  Your regulator is then cycled multiple times to assure proper seating of the internal components.  After this break in, it will be fine tuned and adjusted to manufacturers specs on our highly sophisticated flow bench.

After we have finished servicing your gear, you have the option of scheduling a complimentary 1-hour session in our pool to make sure everything is adjusted to your liking.

How long does a full annual regulator service take?
We request a 2 week turn-around time for a full annual service.  Most gear is finished in less time, however we ask that you allow for 2 weeks in case we need to order special parts to get your gear working as good as new.

Does my BCD need to get serviced, too?
Yes.  You should also get your BCD serviced annually to ensure there are no leaks and that your inflator and dump mechanisms are in proper working order.  Our technicians also replace the inner parts of the power inflator with an annual service kit (depending on model and availability).

We also offer BCD and gear cleaning services, visual cylinder inspection and hydrostatic cylinder testing.

SERVICE RATES:

Regulators: $30 Per Stage
(ex: 1st stage, 2nd stage and octo/alternate air source is $90)  Parts are an additional cost and vary by manufacturer.

This includes complete disassembly of all stages, followed by degreasing and ultrasonic cleaning of all parts.  We then assemble based on manufacturer specifications, replacing warranty parts as needed.  The regulator is then placed on our flowbench test station and adjusted to peak performance.

$30 BCD Service   Parts are an additional cost and vary by manufacturer.

This service involves disassembling and cleaning the power inflator and dump valves, examining all releases and straps and performing a comprehensive leak test.

$15 Visual Cylinder Inspection

A visual inspection of high pressure cylinders is a vital part adhering to safe diving practicies both in and out of the water.  Corrosion is by far the single greatest cause of damage to cylindes and our certified technicians go through a rigorous 18 step inspection process to ensure your cylinder is safe to fill and dive on.  Cylinders must be visually inspected every year.

$35 Hydrostatic Cylinder Test

Hydrostatic testing essentially determines whether the tank is structurally sound and will not burst under pressure.  The most common method is to place the tank into a water-filled pressure chamber and see how much the tank expands under pressure by measuring the amount of water displaced.  A hydrostatic test needs to be performed every 5 years.
