SSI's Advanced Adventurer program was created so you can try out a variety of specialty courses before you commit to completing a full course. It's a great way to experience what advanced training is all about and how valuable it can be to your diving adventures.
During the Advanced Adventurer Program you will have the chance to try out 5 different specialties. You will complete one open water training dive per specialty and if you decide to take a full course in any of the specialties you tried, the dive you took can be applied to your advanced certification.
Scuba Diving with Enriched Air (Nitrox)

Have you ever dreamed of having longer no-decompression limits to take pictures or explore a wreck? Did you ever want to be safer while diving concerning the potential risk of decompression sickness?
Nitrox is the key. Due to the reduced fraction of nitrogen in your breathing gas, your body will have less work and the desaturation times will be reduced.
In your ENRICHED AIR NITROX program you will learn all the necessary rules for planning dives with Nitrox and using Nitrox in a safe way. An important key point in the entire program is analyzing your own tank prior to any Nitrox dive.
"Nitrox for free" is a slogan in a lot of resorts. This means that you do not have to pay a surcharge for Nitrox, but all diving operators will want to see a valid Nitrox certificate before you can dive.
ENRICHED AIR NITROX contains optional dives and therefore it is a perfect "Winter Specialty" before your diving holiday starts. This will allow you to go diving immediately and enjoy the advantages of diving with Nitrox.
If you want to learn more about ENRICHED AIR NITROX, you can buy the manual or the DVD even if you don't want to sign up for the course.
CPR and First Aid: Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care
First aid and CPR are good skills for anyone involved in adventure sports – just in case. And, you need these skills for the SSI Stress and Rescue Diver course. Emergency First Response is a PADI affiliate that specializes in teaching these lifesaving skills – and they’re for anyone, not just divers. Most Open Water Instructors are also Emergency First Response Instructors!

“Be prepared for those unexpected emergencies."
Stress is a major contributor to rescue situations and diving accidents. Through this course you will learn accident prevention, as well as how to handle problem situations if they occur.
The program is about avoiding, recognizing and solving problems on the surface and under water. The course runs two - four days in which you will participate in academic and in-water sessions in the pool and in the open water.
Don't miss a dive due to a scuba gear issue
Whether it's a blown o-ring, regulator problem, wetsuit tear or a broken fin strap, you can learn how to manage basic scuba equipment adjustments. After your SSI Equipment Techniques course, you are prepared for the basic scuba equipment maintenance, care and adjustments you'll encounter every day. In addition, you'll learn interesting background information about how your gear works, how it’s repair and other information that helps you with your equipment investment.
Dive dry!
Wanna stay warm and toasty on a dive? Then dive dry. Yes! Unlike a wetsuit, a dry suit seals you off from the outside water, and thermal undergarments keep you warm, even in surprisingly cold water. Join us in the Blue Hole in New Mexico to complete this certification.
Learn how to capture memories that last a lifetime
Underwater photography is one of the most popular diving specialties and the rise of digital underwater photography equipment has made it easier and more rewarding than ever. We offer two underwater photography courses, Level I & 2, designed to give you hands-on camera training with one of our experienced instructors. Both courses include a one-hour classroom session and two (2) hours of in-pool buoyancy and photography training. The Level 2 course also includes two (2) open water dives and an Underwater Digital Photography specialty certification.
